Fixing method

Installation
Installation is very simple with the special brackets supplied. Fixings allow adjustment, and the method of jointing permits gutters and downpipes to be cut to fit on site. Fixing screws (not supplied) should be of compatible material (stainless steel or cadmium plated). Size and type of fixings used will depend on the material being fixed into, and should be adequate for the detail. Fixing brackets are pre-drilled for No.10 roundhead screws (three per bracket for G146, and two per bracket for G55 and downpipe).

Gutter jointing
The adhesive backed seals are inserted on each side of the joint and the spigots are pressed into place (preferably using G-clamps and with the aid of a lubricant), clipping under the lips of the gutter.

Gutter fixing
Brackets should be screw-fixed to the building at 750mm centres for G146, and 1250mm centres for G55 (screws not supplied by Alifabs). The gutter clips over the brackets and is secured at the bottom flange with a short PK screw (supplied by Alifabs).

Downpipe jointing
Each length of downpipe makes a simple push-fit over the spigot of the length above. Sealing of joints is not normally necessary (but is advisable in internal situations).

Downpipe fixing
Brackets are placed in required position in the channel on the back of the downpipe and then twisted to grip the sides of the channel. Brackets should be positioned at maximum 1500mm centres, or not less than three per 4m length, and are screw-fixed to the wall (fixing screws not supplied).
