Architectural Aluminium Coping - Technical Description

Alifabs architectural coping has been awarded Agrément Certificate No. 03/4037. The coping is covered by British patents 1263463, 1392639 and other world-wide patents.

Composition, manufacture
Copings are manufactured from aluminium alloy sheet grade 1050A - H14 / 4015-H12 to BS EN 485/515/573 2mm thick. For wider copings and painted copings the thickness may be increased. Fixing straps and clips are extruded aluminium alloy type 6082T6 to BS 1474:1987. Straps have an extruded neoprene channel seal bonded to the top.

Accessories
Purpose made fittings are supplied for each installation and may include 9O° and irregular corners, stopends, upstands, T junctions and column caps. All are mitred, welded and given a smooth weatherproof finish. Special fittings for structural movement joints can also be supplied.

Shape, size
The standard coping section is illustrated. Special profiles can be made, e.g. vertical, or with raked legs. Supplied in standard lengths of 3m or 2.5m depending on width and gauge.

Each installation is purpose-made. When specifying or ordering, the total wall width including any finishes, rendering, asphalt or flashings, must be given.

Weight
Typical approximate weights are 1.8kg/in for a 112mm wall, and 3.6kg/in for a 338mm wall.

Appearance
Mill finish is standard. Polyester power paint finishes, applied after fabrication, in a very wide range of colours to order. For most colours there is a choice of gloss, satin or matt finish.
