 Design leaders
Alifabs are world leaders in the design and construction of Visual Control Rooms (VCRs). All the major elements of the Alifabs VCR, such as the GRP roof panels, Slim-View mullions and Sonarview glazing, have been developed in-house using our own engineering and design expertise. These features have been internationally accepted as significant improvements to the operating efficiency of air traffic control, with consequent improvements in ATC safety.
 Flexibility
There are a number of basic VCR patterns which meet most criteria. However, every installation is different, and Alifabs have the design skills and construction flexibility to allow any cab design to be modified to meet any requirements, including irregular and asymmetric plan shapes.
High specification and quality
Alifabs VCRs are constructed with high quality materials and finishes, for minimum maintenance. They are entirely built in our factory, with only final assembly taking place on site. This means that they are fully engineered, built to very tight tolerances and with factory standards of quality control.
 Excellent vision
The cabs with their Slim-View mullions provide 360° vision with the minimum of visual obstruction, and there are no internal central column supports to obscure the view. The optional High-Viz butt-jointed structural glazing system allows clear vision on each face of the cab, with slim structural mullions only at the corners.  Speed of erection
VCR components are pre-assembled in the factory, thus minimising installation time on site. VCRs are installed by our skilled specialist team for maximum speed and reliability.
Single-source responsibility
Alifabs have the necessary multidisciplinary combination of skills to take full responsibility for all aspects of design, construction and erection of VCRs. Clients can therefore have confidence that Alifabs VCRs will be installed on time, to budget, and with all the advantages of single-source responsibility.
 Sonarview glass
Sonarview is a glass specially designed by Alifabs to meet the demanding technical standards needed for VCR glazing, ie safety and security, freedom from condensation and icing, sound reduction, and control of solar heating, glare and reflections. Sonarview is a laminated and tinted safety glass incorporating a heating layer, which may be controlled manually or automatically to prevent condensation and icing, It has been independently tested, and has been accepted by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and many other civil aviation authorities worldwide.
