As leaders in the field of Visual Control Rooms (VCRs) for airports, Alifabs have responded to the demand of air traffic controllers for improved vision by producing a New Generation of High Vision VCRs under the Alifabs' Hi-Viz registered mark. The Alifabs Hi-Viz range of VCRs have been produced and patented following two and a half years of intensive research by Alifabs' own R &D Department who have coupled the company's 35 years of experience in structural engineering with the 45 VCRs produced over the past 20 years in order to satisfy the exacting demands of Air Traffic Controllers. The run-way side of the Alifabs Hi-Viz VCR is free of roof support structure at window level, thus dramatically improving the ATC's vision by reducing the LOV-FACTOR (loss of vision factor). The LOV-FACTOR is Alifabs' registered method of measuring the visual obstructions caused to ATCs by the structural elements on the runway-facing side of the VCR. The LOV-FACTOR is measured in degrees of lost vision. In a traditional octagonal VCR, with ATCs eye level two metres from the glass and assuming that 90% of observations fall within a field of vision arc of 240°, the LOV-FACTOR comparison between a conventional and an Alifabs Hi-Viz |
