History

Francis Charles Adlam founded Alifabs on 20th September 1957 at our factory site on Sheerwater Industrial Park, Woking. The company started its trading life supplying aluminium building products and lightweight structures to the construction industry.

Many of Alifabs early products were patented and soon gained industry recognition and accreditation as being 'the best'. To this day Alifabs coping system is still the only product on the market to have gained the BBA (British Board of Agrément) certification as testament to its superior quality.

Alifabs reputation and expertise soon travelled abroad where a number of large export contracts were undertaken and installed. The success of these projects soon promoted Alifabs in a bid to design, construct and install its first Visual Control Room for Sharjah International Airport, United Arab Emirates. This was to be the first of some 45 airport control rooms to date in 20 different countries that has established Alifabs reputation as the most experienced company worldwide. Alifabs was presented with the Queens Award for Export in 1994.

With Alifabs reputation and experience in design and development the company has also been involved in many 'one off' special structures. These projects range from domes, canopies and roof vaults to power station structures and sculptures combining a multi-discipline of materials. The development of these projects has established an experienced in-house design office with extensive Computer Aided Design and 3D modelling facilities.

Our most recent and largest growth area of business has been in the design, manufacture and installation of Cellular support structures for the telecommunications industry. Alifabs was appointed onto British Telecommunications Approved Supplier list and won major ongoing contracts to supply and install Cellular structures all over the United Kingdom. With our appointment by other major clients, Alifabs are now one of the UK's largest suppliers and installation engineers for Cellular structures.
